Details: past & present
As Program Director at CHQT Edmonton, I packaged, promoted, financed and sold a tourism promotion for the station and Travel Alberta. This promotion received an award from the government for excellence in promoting tourism. It also received awards for many years after I left the station.
My contract at CJWW Saskatoon, included the positions of program director, ass’t manager, general manager. After having been at CJWW one month however, I was given the manager's office, and responsibilities. We turned our first profit within 11 months. I left the company for Toronto, but was asked back a few years later to work for the same owner, in the position of morning show host.
While at CJWW I took a course from owner Roy Currie on non-verbal communication, specifically aimed at delivering spoken material. I went on to teach others the same course.
Management positions included coaching staff, administration and sales work, budgeting, overseeing all departments, CRTC Promise of Performance compliance, motivation, promotion, and general problem solving.

Interests
Canadian private pilot's license with night endorsement: several hundred hours solo time: Cessna 150, Arrow, Turbo-T, 140, Cherokee-6.

Canadian Power Squadron boating course and have my Power Boat Operator's License and Toronto Harbor License. My vessel, ACMY “Bugler’s Holiday” was used by CHAY-FM Barrie, Global Television, and AM740 Radio for promotional purposes.

Being from a musical family, I play several instruments, particularly keyboards, taught trumpet at one time, and was awarded the "Bandsman of the Year" award in the Saskatoon Lions Band.

Computer programming is another hobby. I spent a year writing a program, for use in radio stations, for which I received a small award. I have set up databases for various companies using FileMaker Pro. These packages have ranged from investigative databases to handle costs, charges, reporting, staffing and expenses, to work for a swimming pool company to keep track of their pool openings/closing, maintenance work, and chemical sales. I included routines to handle a client data base, product pricing, and invoicing including Provincial Sales tax and the G.S.T. Also set up databases and did client work for a Toronto computer firm, and set up a database for a CPR course company to handle their courses, levels, schedules etc.

Other
I have lectured and done other public relations related work for various employers, describing our industry, and teaching non-verbal communication. I have MC’d functions from outdoor barbecues to major 4 hour stage productions in a 5,000 seat theater to larger outdoor productions such as Ontario Place. During my freelance days, with time to spare, I worked as a licensed private investigator for a few years, specializing in missing persons.
Finally, I was very active within our condominium for 7 years, having been on the board of directors for most of those years, including the position of President more than once, and editor of the Condo Chronicle newsletter.

I have left all former employers on excellent terms, and have in the past been asked to come back to work for six of my previous employers.
